Kogo Gallery is pleased to participate again at Esther, an alternative art fair in New York. The fair taks place at The Estonian House from 6 to 10 May, coinciding with Frieze New York 2025. This year, Esther II will introduce primarily new galleries, featuring 25 international exhibitors from 18 cities. The only returning galleries besides Kogo Gallery are Kim? Contemporary Art Centre based in Riga, Latvia and BANK, which operates in Shanghai and New York.
Esther is organised by two galleries – Margot Samel in New York and Temnikova & Kasela Gallery in Tallinn.

Kogo Gallery presents works by two represented artists – Eike Eplik and Līga Spunde.
Estonian sculptor Eike Eplik is deeply fascinated by biodiversity and its complicated relationship with humankind. She creates sensitive and imaginative works full of personal mythology, using different visual expressions and materials such as clay and metal. Similar to the ideas of philosopher Astrida Neimanis about water-connected worlds, the artist takes a humble approach to all living things; in her art, strictly defined categories, hierarchies, genders and bodies do not exist. Her work can be described as micro-worlds, like bestiaries, inhabited by fantastic creatures in combination with plant forms including fungi, roots, and cones.

Multi-media artist Līga Spunde takes inspiration from pop culture and seemingly unbelievable events or viral tweets from our everyday newsfeeds. Besides people and animals, she often depicts familiar fictional creatures, human and technological failures, and the zeitgeist of the present time. Her digital drawings, where everything seems to be inflated like a balloon to give a 3D look, take various forms as two or three-dimensional prints or cut-outs from selected material, online exhibitions, games, and sculptural installations.
