About the artist
Lisette Lepik (b. 1999) studied painting at the Estonian Academy of Arts (2022) and complemented her studies in the field of sculpture and installation at the Icelandic Academy of Arts (2019). Main mediums she uses are painting and painting installation. In painting installation, she brings painting from the surface of the canvas to space or expands it to different materials. Lisette thinks of color as a substance where different characteristics and ways of use give the opportunity to evoke a certain feeling, memory or recognition. The range of topics she deals with is centered around woman’s body, its representation and meaning. In painting, Lisette depicts sensations that accompany our bodies; sexuality that can reflect trauma or, on the contrary, be so attractive and enjoyable.
Lisette Lepik has actively participated in group exhibitions in Estonia, Iceland, Austria and Lithuania. In 2022, she had a personal exhibition “Eeva’s garden” at Uus Rada gallery in Tallinn. In 2024, she had a duo exhibition together with Brenda Purtsak at Tartu Art House Monumental Gallery and Hobusepea Gallery. In 2021 and 2022, she was selected as a finalist for the Young Painter Prize. From 2023, she is teaching composition and painting at Estonian Academy of Arts as a guest lecturer.
